Ministry Objectives Child Care Meet the Pastor History	Joe Kappel grew up in the United States in a Christian home. Despite tremendous privileges in hearing the gospel and sitting under Bible teaching, Joe did not truly understand the good news of the substitutionary life, death and resurrection of Jesus until his time in university. At that time, God took hold of Joe's heart, convincing him of his sin and need of Jesus, and since then, Joe has claimed Christ as his Savior and Lord. During his university years he earned a bachelor's degree in pastoral studies and a master's degree in Bible. Since 2005, Joe has called China home, living first in China's Dong Bei, and most recently in Beijing. He accepted the call to pastor Beijing Baptist Church in January 2008 and loves the amazing privilege of pointing Beijing's international community to the God who truly exists and His beloved Son who alone can set them free. Joe met his wife Lauren at BBC in October 2007. After a brief time of dating and engagement, Joe and Lauren entered the joy of marriage on August 8, 2009. The Lord continued to heap blessings on Joe and Lauren with the birth of their son Josiah Hudson on June 13, 2010.
