The gospel of Mark was written to a Gentile audience, leaving out key details Matthew included in his account to the Jews. Mark sought to explain to the Gentiles the difference between the written word of God, “It is written” and the oral traditions of man, “It is said” that later became known as the Mishna (a written commentary of the law that included extra-biblical legalistic requirements. Why does Jesus on more than one occasion distance Himself from the crowds by preaching on a boat while other times put himself in a crowd where are healed? That’s one of many questions we answer in our study through Mark and Jesus’s journey to be crowned King.
